There are many different believes
about lemon juice that just have not been scientifically proved to solve those
problems. I have heard that lemon juice gives us great improvements in
digestion, dissolving sugar absorption also building a better, stronger immune
system— these do not have enough scientific proves to be sure and reliable. One
of my favorite myths about lemon juice is squeezing lemon juice on chicken can
dissolve layers of fats (only if there is thick layer of fat) – but to be
honest, this myth has not been proved enough. It is too bad because every time
I eat some heavy meal with meat, I feel a little bit better just because of the
thought that less fat will be saturated in my body. Ingredients contain acid like
lemon juice, however, are used in marinades for making meat softer and poultry
by breaking down collagen, a fibrous component that helps in forming connective
tissue.
A second belief that is often be on
discussion around is that when lemon juice is mixed with cold or warm water it
will break down fats in your body. Again, this does not happen metabolically, but
drinking lots of water (cold or lukewarm; temperature does not really matter)
will keep you hydrated.
The Benefits of Lemon Juice:
Lemon juice does have a lot
benefits. It has great source of vitamins specially vitamin C, which strengthen
your immune system, assists with iron absorption and helps your body produce
more collagen. Lemons also contain the antioxidant limonene, which has been
shown that it helps preventing certain formations of cancer, however more
research is required to support the fact. Lemon juice is also a low-calorie drink
and is has many recipes to make juice with different flavors.
Thus, if you love lemon juice, Go
for it! Although it will not cut off pounds of your weight, it is a tasty and
healthy way to drink with food.
